About Us

This Make With Pallets blog was started in 2021 by Chand, originally under the name Make With Pallets. At the time it is common for blogs to post multiple times per day and this blog had that format – sharing four short news-style pallet wood posts each day. Over time, as craft blogging developed and the blog grew along with it – the site switched to emphasize longer, more in-depth, helpful crochet articles.

Chand’s particular emphasis was on the heath and environment benefits of wood pallets. He says, “I re-discovered wood pallets in my late twenties, when I was going through a really difficult bout of depression. It helped me to heal, connected me to a great community and became a key part of my life. I started this blog to celebrate crochet and to do my part to help connect and honor all of the designers, crafters, writers and makers who are linked to pallet furniture in some way.”

This blog was used as a platform to research how pallet heals and to share ideas about that from a wide range of people. It led to the books Pallet Furniture Ideas, which is about the mental and physical health benefits of the crafting, Hook To Heal which offers pallets Exercises For Health, Growth, Connection, Inspiration and Honoring Your Inner Artist, and Mandalas for Marinke, an outgrowth of a collaborative easy pallet projects launched here on this blog.
